Type Locality and Naming

It is found in Jurassic sections of the SE Murghab district Gurdumdin type in the South-Eastern Pamir.

Synonym: Sedex suite, седекская свитa

Lithology and Thickness

It is composed of dark, clear-bedded, cleaved clayey limestones and marls with a thickness of 100-430 m.

Relationships and Distribution

Lower contact

The deposits conformably overlie the Gurtang-Sinemurian Gurumdin Fm

Upper contact

It is conformably overlain by the lower Bajocian Kokebelles Fm (кокбелесской свитой).

Regional extent

They are found in Jurassic sections of the Gurdumdin type in the South-Eastern Pamir, represented by the Sedex Fm (Dronov, 1958).

Fossils

The Sedex Fm contains remains of ammonites of the Lower Bajocian-Aalenian: Epideroceras ex gr. roberti Hauer (Lorraine), Arieticeras cf. algovianum Opp. (Pliensbach), Porpoceras cf. subarmatum Janng et Bird, Harpoceras falcifer Sow., Dactilioceras cf. anguinum Buckm. (roap), Dumortieria explanata Buckm., Hammatoceras cf. sieboldi Opp., H. cf. Pugnax Vacek., Ludwigella ex gr. rugosa Buckm., Fontanessia curvata Buckm. (Allen). In the very top of the suite, Eudmetoceras cf. eudmetum Buckm. have been found, characterizing the lower Bajocian.
